Did you know.. that the Chorinho is considered to be the Brazilian Jazz?
Choro or traditionally called "chorinho" is one of the most famous instrumental music in Brazil. Considered that first urban popular music, the chorinho was born in the 19th century in Rio de Janeiro, bringing his fast and happy rhythm to the streets and to local pubs. The chorinho band has a base of three instruments (flute, guitar and cavaquinho, a small four strings instrument), however other instruments can be added such as, the trumpet, saxofone, clarinet and trambone.

The greatest composer of all times is Pixiguinha, he incorporated the American Jazz harmonies to the Afro-Brazilian rhythms of chorinho, being responsible for bringing this genre of music from the streets to the upper class venues.
